HOME / Project Details
In the leafy suburbs of Cheshire, Mia James was contracted to turn this oddly shaped house into something more contemporary which fits in with current building regulations and design. Inside this property was a mish mash of various steel pillars visible both inside the ceiling and pillars in the middle of most rooms downstairs. Our remit was to try and remove all the current steels inside the property and replace with new, with the mind of hiding all new steels within the floor and wall spaces, we instructed out structural engineers to come up with a new design.
After weeks of careful planning with the client, the Mia James Team and our Structural Engineer we came up with a fantastic new design which completely opened up the space downstairs, incorporating new doors and windows to let in as much light as possible, opening up the kitchen into the dining area, creating a new bar area, downstairs toilet and Crittall style doors to really enhance the space. Our team of expert tilers removed the whole of the downstairs floor to introduce complete new UFH system along with 1m x 1m new tiles with amazing effect! this project was most certainly the biggest and most competed structural project we have been involved with to date, just look at the pictures to truly understand the monumental task at hand.
Once the inside was complete we began with the garden design, the garden at the property was in such a sorry state, it pooled water in the winter and had no drainage system. Our amazing team come up with an amazing garden design with the client which reflected the area and house. We removed close to 120 tons of soil from the garden area so that we could create this new amazing space, we added retaining walls, decking, planters, a water fountain, full electrics and lighting package, tiled 60% of the garden space floor area and a brand new indoor seating area with an amazing effect, please see picture on the project tab.
